Happy Fall Golden Spike Families!

Fall is here, and with it comes cooler weather and lots of excitement! We have a few reminders and upcoming events to share with you.

As the weather gets cooler, please take a moment to label your child's coats and jackets with their name. Our lost and found grows quickly this time of year, and having names on belongings makes it much easier to return them to their owners!   If your child is in need of a winter coat and you need help providing that, we have a limited selection of sizes available that we would love to give to kids!  Please reach out to your child's teacher or one of our school counselors if we can help.

Our annual Halloween Costume Parade will be held on Friday, October 30, at 9:15 a.m.  Families are invited to watch the costume parade from the gym. Our school will be celebrating by allowing students to wear their costumes to school.  Please remember that learning and safety is still our priority.  Below are the guidelines for that day.

  • No masks will be allowed. Students may wear facial make-up but should not be considered “full face.” This is to ensure the safety of all students and preserve the learning environment.

  •  No fake blood or appearances of violence will be permitted. These are not appropriate at school. Weapons or props are not allowed (swords, shields, hatchets, etc.).

  • Costumes should allow students to sit comfortably, use their hands, and participate fully in classroom instruction, PE, and other school activities without causing distractions. If a costume interferes with learning or participation, teachers may ask students to remove it. Please make sure your child has regular clothing underneath their costume

  • Golden Spike Elementary and staff are not responsible for damage to costumes or lost or broken items.

  • Please be aware that hair dye (even the removable kind) can stain your child’s hair and clothing. Please avoid such dyes.

It is our desire that all children have a safe and enjoyable costume parade event at school. We thank you for your understanding and hope to see some wonderful costumes!

We couldn’t do this without you. Thanks for being such an important part of Golden Spike.  Have a great weekend!

With gratitude,

Shaylyn & Nate
