Dear Parents,
On Monday, October 31 our school will be celebrating Halloween by allowing students to wear their costumes to school. Please remember that learning and safety is still our priority. Below are the guidelines for that day.
· If you choose to wear a costume, it must be worn to school. In order to reduce distractions, we will not have mid-day costume changes or allow parents to help with costume adjustments during the day.
· No masks will be allowed. Students may wear facial make-up, but it should be applied before coming to school and should not be considered “full face”.
· No fake blood or appearances of violence will be permitted. These are not appropriate at school. Weapons or props are not allowed (swords, shields, weapons, etc.).
· Students should be able to sit down and use their hands for instruction during the school day. It should not distract from the learning environment or prevent students from working at their desk or participating in PE or other activities.
· Please be aware that hair dye (even the removable kind) can stain your child’s hair and clothing. Please avoid such dyes.
· Golden Spike Elementary and staff are not responsible for damage to costumes or lost or broken items.
We will have a costume parade and the time will be sent out by Friday. Parents are invited, however we will be streaming it on Facebook Live if you would rather participate that way and not mess with parking! If you elect to take your child after the parade, please check them out from their teacher who will report this to the office.
It is our desire that all children have a safe and wholesome costume parade event at school. We thank you for your understanding and hope to see some wonderful costumes on Monday!
