Dear families,
Get ready—the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! This is a great opportunity to build your child’s
home library with new books they’ll dive into again and again.
The easiest way to let your child shop the Fair independently is by creating an eWallet. It’s easy to set up and
easy for others to add funds.
Create an eWallet, and you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to Share the Fair - the giving program
that supports students at our school who need help buying books. Consider participating so that no child
leaves the Fair empty-handed!
Here’s everything else you need to know about the Book Fair:
Dates: November 12-13
Location: Stage
Family Event schedule and location: Book Fair on the stage from 2-7 PM (during Parent Techer Conferences)
For full details, and to create an eWallet, visit our school’s Book Fair homepage: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/goldenspikeelementary
More than ever, we need to get students reading. Studies prove that children with more books at home
have higher-level reading skills, and attain more years of education overall.
Lastly, this is a great opportunity to be a Book Fair volunteer! When you give your time, it helps make our Fair
an unforgettable reading experience where every purchase benefits our school directly.
Happy reading,
Principal Shaylyn Ekins

Congratulations to our two fabulous employees of the month! Give them a shout out!
Terra Brady, Kindergarten Teacher: We are so grateful for Terra Brady, an incredible kindergarten teacher! She has devoted countless hours this year helping both teachers and students succeed. Terra constantly shares ideas to support mastery of essential skills, is a wealth of knowledge, and a pro at using technology to stay organized. She also goes above and beyond to help other teachers with technology needs at every grade level. Golden Spike is lucky to have her dedication and expertise!
Jaime Myers, Kitchen Manager: Shout out to Jaime Myers, our amazing kitchen manager! She makes sure breakfast and lunch are ready on time every day and leads her team so every student gets fed efficiently. Jaime is always positive with students, organized with her staff, and goes above and beyond for our Golden Spike Eagles. We’re so lucky to have her!

Every Day Counts when it comes to your child’s success in school! 📚
Did you know? Missing just 2 days a month can add up to 18+ days in a year, that's nearly a whole month of lost learning! Even early on, frequent absences can make it harder for children to keep up and stay confident in class.
To make attendance extra fun, we’re kicking off our attendance initiative with dress-up days this week! Let’s keep our students excited to come to school, learn, and show their school spirit!

Welcome to Kindergarten!

This week is "Start With Hello" Week! Each day, students will be invited to take part in fun daily challenges designed to promote kindness, connection, and a welcoming atmosphere here at Golden Spike. Our school counselors will also be visiting classrooms to teach this important lesson and help foster a sense of belonging for everyone!
