4th grade learning from Box Elder Highs Science Students about energy transfer and wave patterns!! So much fun!!
This month our 4th grade LEAP students have been learning about women in STEM. They picked a person to research and then created and presented information about those women. Students focused on the age of these women, what they are known for, how they impacted STEM, and answered the question, “What can we learn from this person?”
Second Grade has loved STEM and learning lots of problem-solving strategies this year. They have learned a great growth mindset and how to keep trying even if something is hard!
Fifth grade had fun in STEM, connecting what they're learning about the American Revolution with an engineering project! Students made their own clotheslines and devised ways to keep the clothes off the ground. They also made up a "code." For instance, if the clothes were hanging in a particular order, it meant, "I'm hungry for a burger and fries." During the Revolution, clothing items in certain orders meant that the Redcoats were near.
Fifth graders participated in a reader's theater on the American Revolution. Great reading and active listening skills!
We had the opportunity to celebrate our January students of the month this morning! We appreciate all their hard work. The students got their award and a brag tag.
We are so grateful for our counselors, Mrs. Dianna Serfustini and Mrs. Amanda Morris! They do so much for our school and we love them so much! Happy School Counselors Week!
Next week is our Kindness/Hope Week. Here's an outline of daily challenges and events.
Happy 101st day of school!
5th graders did a fun communication building activity this week. Students partnered up to draw a picture that only one student could see and had to describe to the their partner.
Here is the Golden Spike PTO Newsletter for February!
Last week we recognized some of our for December's Students of the Month. They got a certificate with the good things that they were being recognized for and a brag tag! We appreciate all their hard work!
We love our STEM and Computer Science Programs at Golden Spike! Mrs. Hansen has been teaching the students how to use block coding with Finch Bots to light up, make noise, draw shapes, and work their way through a maze. Next up, bot jousting!!!
